Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method by which a high purity product can be obtained in short reaction time, for producing an unsaturated dicarboxylic ester having an oxycarbonyl methyl ester group and/or a carbonyl methyl ester group. SOLUTION: The method for producing the unsaturated dicarboxylic ester is characterized by reacting an α-chloro carboxylic ester and/or an α-chloro ketone with a salt of a kind of unsaturated carboxylic acid selected from a group consisting of itaconic acid, itaconic half ester, fumaric acid, fumaric half ester, maleic acid and maleic half ester in the presence a salt of which the counter ion is a bromide ion and/or a salt of which the counter ion is an iodide ion.
