Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simplify the structure of and reduce the cost of an accident point location system by dispensing with the measurement of the time when each sensor 3a to 3g detects a surge current in the location of an accident point occurring in a branch cable line and thus dispensing with clocks for measuring time and a time synchronizer for synchronizing the times of the clocks. SOLUTION: For each of a plurality of sections constituting branch cable lines, computation is made to produce a value of amplitude of a surge current expected to be detected by each sensor 3a to 3g on the assumption that an accident point is present in each section. In an accident point locating operation, the computation result and a measured value of amplitude of a surge current detected by each sensor 3a to 3g are compared to determine in which of the sections the accident point is present.
