Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a basic refractory for a cement kiln which has good and stable coating adhesion and high high-temperature strength and also has excellent service durability (corrosion resistance) even in a firing zone exhibiting a severe thermal load. SOLUTION: This method for producing a magnesia-spinel based basic refractory comprises: preparing a composition which consists essentially of high-purity magnesia clinker and MgO-Al2 O3 spinel clinker and also contains (1) 2-5 wt.% alumina having particle size passing through the 100 mesh sieve, (2) 0.5-4 wt.% zirconia having particle size passing through 100 mesh sieve, and (3) 5-13 wt.% total content of the above alumina and alumina in the above spinel clinker on the basis of the total weight of the composition; kneading the composition; forming the kneaded composition into a green body; and firing the green body at 1,400-1,800 deg.C. Thus, in the refractory, the spinel bonding is formed in a matrix region being between spinel aggregate and magnesia aggregate.
