Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a medical shaft superior in both pushability and torque transmission efficiency and capable of obtaining well-balanced operability, a manufacturing method for the medical shaft, and a balloon catheter using the medical shaft. SOLUTION: This medical shaft is made using high polymer resin as raw material, and has a metal reinforced part having a metal layer formed on the surface of the shaft and a resin part having no metal layer formed on the shaft surface. The metal reinforced part has a tapered part in which the metal layer in the metal reinforced part is gradually increased in thickness from a boundary part between the resin part and the metal reinforced part toward the major axis of the shaft.
