Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polypeptide or polynucleotide whose large scale production is technically simple and economical, and needs no sporangium of a bacterium belonging to the Bacillus popilliae, and which exhibits an exterminating effect against an insect belonging to the Scarabaeidae, especially Anomala cuprea, Blitopertha orientalis or Popillia japonica, and a method for exterminating the insect. SOLUTION: A polypeptide containing a specific amino acid sequence derived from the Bacillus popilliae or a part of the sequence and a polynucleotide are used as an active ingredient against an insect belonging to the Scarabaeidae.
