PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an operation aid method that aids a requester to allow a gas meter 6 or the like to execute a prescribed operation by means of an operation aid system 20 employing the gas meter 5 installed at a customer side and a communication network for communication between the meter 6 and a management facility and configured to be communicated with the meter 6. SOLUTION: The aid method includes a reception step of receiving operation request electronic mail with respect to recognition information sent from an information terminal 2 at the requester side and to be used for recognizing the meter 6 to execute the prescribed operation and operation contents information that is contents of the prescribed operation, a recognition step of recognizing the meter 6 to execute the prescribed operation on the basis of the recognition information, a command signal generating step of generating a command signal on the basis of the operation contents information, and a command signal transmission step of transmitting the command signal via a communication network to the meter 6 to execute the prescribed operation.
