Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide non-heatteated steel for hot forging which is satisfactorily fractured when fractured at a notch as a starting point by working using a heat source in a technique for producing parts by separating the connecting rod of an automobile engine by fracture, and can obtain a tightly adhesive fractured face substantially having no plastic deformation. SOLUTION: The steel has a composition containing, by weight, 0.3 to 0.8% C, 0.1 to 2.0% Si, 0.3 to 1.5% Mn, 0.01 to 0.15% P, 0 to 1.0% Cr, =50%. One or more kinds selected from Pb, S, Ca and Bi can be added to the steel for increasing its machinability.
