SOLUTION: According to a memory controller and a memory control method, the number (N) of horizontal effective pixels of original image data is calculated, whether or not the calculated number (N) of effective pixels is natural number times as many as the number (B) of banks is decided, and when it is decided that the number (N) of effective pixels is natural number times as many as the number (B) of banks, the original image data with ineffective image data attached in a horizontal direction are controlled so as to be written in a memory. Since it is thereby possible to prevent continuous access from being given from the same bank, fast data access can be made even in performing turning control of the original image data or the like.
