Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for producing a carbonaceous material with low cost. SOLUTION: The apparatus 1 for producing the carbonaceous material is equipped with a tube reactor 11 and a gas feeding part. An anode 13 and a cathode 14 composing an arc discharge part are set in the tube reactor 11. The anode 13 and the cathode 14 are pure carbon electrodes made by only carbon. The gas feeding part is constituted to be able to feed selectively an organic gas and a catalytic gas into the tube reactor 11. On the method for producing the carbonaceous material, the anode 13 and the cathode 14 are molded using a carbon block. Arc discharge is occurred at the arc discharge part. A mixed gas of the organic gas with the catalytic gas is fed to the arc discharge part in the reactor tube 11. The carbonaceous material is generated from the organic gas as a raw material by catalysis at the arc discharge part.
