STEERING DEVICE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steering device as an improvement of a conventional arrangement in which the coupling strength of the end of a steering column with a press-fitting hole in a housing for connection of a column end is preferably heightened, involving such demerits as necessity for a design change of peripheral members and the deterioration of the function. SOLUTION: The steering device 1 is structured so that a press-fitting part 22 formed on the end of a lower column 8 constituting a cylindrical steering column 4 is fitted by pressure in the pressure-fitting hole 23 in the housing 9 of a drive mechanism for assisting a steering motion. The press-fitting part 22 of the lower column 8 is furnished with a reinforcement 24 as a ring-shaped flange 25. The reinforcement 24 reinforces the end 21 of the steering column 4 including the press-fitting part 22, for example, the coupling strength of the lower column 8 to the housing 9 is improved when a bending force is applied to the steering column 4.
