Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air cleaner eliminating the need for the space for maintenance around the air cleaner and easy to maintain. SOLUTION: The air cleaner is provided with a case 7 in which a cylindrical filter element 6 is housed and a cover 5 mounted detachably to the case 7. At the cover 5, a pair of holding parts 8 and 9 engaged to both edges 6b and 6c in the axial direction of the filter element 6 is provided so as to hold the filter element 6. When the cover 5 is detached from the case 7, the filter element 6 is also detached from the case 7. When the engagement of the holding parts 8 and 9 and the filter element 6 is released, the filter element 6 is detached from the cover 5. Then the cover 5 is detached, the filter element 6 can be also detached, so the filter element 6 can be detached front the cover 5 after detaching the cover 5 toward an upper direction of an engine room so that it does not interfere a surrounding equipment. Therefore, the need for the space for maintenance around the air cleaner is eliminated.
