PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To speedily and sharply display effective data by calculating a proper scrolling quantity in response to data contents and performing scrolling according to the scrolling quantity. SOLUTION: In entire display object data (data quantity H) 150, areas B1 to B4 are designated by a user as areas which need not be displayed on a screen and areas A1 to A5 are designated as objects to be displayed. In this case, h, h1, h, h, h2, h, etc., are determined as scrolling quantities and scrolling is carried out. Namely, when a new display position is inside one of the areas B1 to B4 after the scrolling is performed by the fixed default scrolling quantity (h) from a current display position, the scrolling quantity is made larger (h1, h2, h3, and h4) and the new display position is set to the tail position of the area B.
