Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a facsimile machine in which a book document is read out directly and its image information is transmitted automatically. SOLUTION: The facsimile machine comprises a document reading plane 19 for mounting a book document, automatic sheet feed sections 94a and 94b for feeding a sheet document, and a head 25 for reading out a sheet document or a book document. The reading head 25 moves along the document reading plane 19 when a book document on the document reading plane 19 is read out, and stops at a specified position when a sheet document being fed from the automatic sheet feed sections 94a, 94b is read out.
