Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a volatile component extracting method,, capable of reliably collecting volatile components contained in a solid matter such as leaf tobacco. SOLUTION: This volatile component extracting device is provided with a sample tube 10 for hosing a sample formed of the solid matter containing the volatile component, a gas-filling device 16 for filling the sample tube with an inert gas, a thermostatic chamber 12 for housing the sample tube for holding the sample housed in the sample tube at a predetermined temperature, and a canister 20 in a previously decompressed state selectively connected to the sample tube. The sample tube housing the sample S is filled with the inert gas for holding the sample at the predetermined temperature, and then the previously decompressed canister is connected to the sample tube, to collect components which have evaporated from the sample.
