HOB CUTTER AND FACE GEAR FORMING METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hob cutter capable of cutting non-metal material with high accuracy and with a small manipulated variable and polishing. SOLUTION: This hob cutter 10 includes a cutting part 14 and an abrading part 16 adjacent to the cutting part 14 and operational-interlocking with the cutting part 14. The cutting part 14 has a plurality of hob teeth 18 disposed adjacent to each other and arrayed spirally, and at least one gash 20 extended through the plurality of hob teeth 18 for forming a cutting surface 30 on the respective fronts of the hob teeth and a rear face on the respective backs of the hob teeth 18. The abrading part 16 is provided with a plurality of abrading teeth 42 disposed adjacent to each other. Both the hob teeth and the abrading teeth 42 are continuously formed and arrayed spirally.
