Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a western style toilet device by which urine scattering is surely prevented when a western style toilet is used for urination by a male in a standing posture and a toilet lid is automatically opened when a helper is to take a helping posture near the toilet. SOLUTION: To projected parts 5 and 6 of a toilet seat box 4, foot detection sensors 18 and 19 provided with a light emitting element and light receiving element for infrared rays and visible light are turnably installed. A light spot and a foot detection area are set at desired positions on a floor surface near a toilet bowl 2 and a toilet seat 7 is raised on the basis of foot detection signals.
