Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing for a control valve type lead- acid battery, capable of simply inserting an electrode group into a container and preventing a penetration short-circuit generation, when in-container formation is conducted. SOLUTION: This control valve type lead-acid battery is manufactured in such a process that the electrode group, formed by stacking a pasted positive plate; and a pasted negative plate via a separator composed of a fine glass mat is inserted into the container by applying the compression force less than 40 kgf/dm2, an electrolyte is filled, the formation is conducted, a spacer is inserted between the side surface in the stacking direction of the electrode group and a container wall, and then the electrode group is compressed, so that the compression force becomes 40 kgf/dm2 or more in a value before the electrolyte is filled.
