Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface lighting apparatus with which a good light guiding characteristics can be secured. SOLUTION: A transparent substrate 2A of the surface lighting apparatus 1A has a cover 16 incorporated with a fluid body 15 consisting of gelatinous or liquid state material in between. This tightly sealed composition prevents dusts generated in an assembly process from entering between the transparent substrate 2A and the cover 16. If the cover 16 is distorted by collision with other members such as an assembling equipment in the assembly process, a light reflex pattern 13 is protected from damage and good light guiding characteristics can be maintained as the distortion is absorbed by the fluid body 15.
