Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a means for measuring the distance between a reproducing element and a recording element and the track width which are required for a self servo writing without previously recording a positioning signal on a disk. SOLUTION: An actuator is pressed against a stopper at an inner peripheral side in a first stage for recording a servo signal, the driving force of the actuator is changed and a head position is adjusted. Thus, an off-track profile is measured and a head feeding pitch is calculated by the obtained track width and an R/W offset. Thus the self-servo writing can be performed by the correctly managed track pitch.
