Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technology for producing an aromatic polycarbonate free from quality deterioration in a gear pump, excellent in color tone and little in a foreign material content even in the case where a production plant has been scaled up. SOLUTION: When an aromatic polycarbonate is produced by melt polycondensation, a self-lubricating-type gear pump is used for transferring a melt reaction mixture from a reaction apparatus. The flow rate Q (cm3/sec) of the reaction mixture which is continuously fed to a shaft seal part of the gear pump is controlled so that it satisfies the following relation: Q/S>=0.1 (cm/sec) (wherein, S is the sectional area (cm2) of a flow path placed to supply the reaction mixture to the shaft-seal part).
