OPTICAL PICKUP DEVICE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical pickup device that can be made thinner by using general purpose optical parts available on the market. SOLUTION: In the optical pickup device in which a laser beam emitted from a semiconductor laser (LD') is reflected by the reflection area of a riser mirror (MIR') to be converged on the signal recording surface of an optical disk (Disc) by an objective lens(OL'), and in which the return light from the signal recording surface is reflected by the reflection area of the riser mirror (MIR') to be detected by a photodetector(PD); the riser mirror (MIR') is arranged so that the rising angle (θ') of its reflection area is less than 45 deg. to the lower face of the pickup of the optical pickup device, while the photodetector(PD) is arranged on the lower face of the pickup.
