PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technology for immediately transmitting accurate map data corresponding to positional information transmitted from a vehicle or the like, in response to a request from a portable terminal at a low price as compared with a car navigation system, or the like. SOLUTION: This map data providing device storing map data and segmenting the map data based on the request from the user terminal to output them to the user terminal, is constituted by having a recording means for receiving positional information on a positional information noticing device from the noticing device that measures and outputs positional information and recording the positional information on the noticing device, a means for receiving a prescribed information from the user terminal and acquiring the positional information on the noticing device corresponding to the prescribed information from the recording means, and a segmenting means for segmenting a map image containing a position shown by the positional information from the map data and transmitting a part or the whole of the segmented map image to the user terminal.
