Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for automatically modifying the displaying state of an image on the basis of an analysis of pixel values in a selected object area. SOLUTION: A digital input image of digital image values and a gradation look-up table are supplied, which is applied to the input image to generate and display a default displaying image. The object area is selected from the input image (106) and a histogram of the image values in the object area is calculated (107). On the basis of the histogram and gradation look-up table, the image values in the object area are remapped to generate a bright light image (111), which is overlaid on the default displaying image (112).
