Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an energy dissipator having a structure in which a scale is reduced and the quantity of air taken into an energy dissipating tank is decreased. SOLUTION: A guide section 2 changing the flow direction of a water flow flowing in from an inflow port 1a is installed into the energy dissipating tank 1 with the inflow port 1a and an outflow port 1b. The pipe bottom 4a of an outflow pipe 4 connected to the outflow port 1b of the tank 1 is arranged at a position higher than the pipe bottom 3a of an inflow pipe 3 connected to the inflow port 1a. A horizontal flow path 30 horizontally extending towards the inflow port 1a is formed on the upstream side of the inflow port 1a of the tank 1.
