Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the lateral offset to reduce the function stop of a matching nip in an active matching system used in a high-speed printer or the like. SOLUTION: This sheet prematching system comprises a sheet input device 70; a rotatable carrying device 74 for receiving a sheet from the sheet input device and carrying it to a matching unit 10 in the downstream side; devices 76 and 77 for rotating the rotatable carrying device; a lateral edge sensor 52 for detecting the lateral edge of the sheet carried by the rotatable carrying device, and a controller 59 for operating the rotating devices 76 and 77 to rotate the carrying device 74 to an optimum position.
