Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrode capable of solving a problem of the loss of silver from a relatively non-emissive separator and also facilitating the positioning of an emissive element along the longitudinal axis of the electrode, and to provide a method for producing the electrode. SOLUTION: This invention relates to an electrode for a plasma arc torch and a method for producing the same. The electrode comprises a copper holder 16 defining two coaxial cavities 24 and 25. The emissive element 28 is secured to one (24) of the cavities and serves as the cathode terminal for the arc during operation. The relatively non-emissive separator 32 is disposed about the emissive element 28 within the other, rear cavity 25, and acts to separate the copper holder 16 and the emissive element 28, as well as resisting detachment of the arc from the emissive element 28 and attachment to the copper holder 16.
