SOLUTION: The number of driving revolution when the developing unit 3 comes into contact with the image carrier by the tangential force of a driving gear 21 is made lower than the number of revolution at a developing time, and the driving sources as many as or more than the number of the developing units 3 simultaneously coming into contact with the image carrier are provided, so that driving and rotating control when each developing unit 3 comes into contact and is moved to the image carrier is performed.
