SOLUTION: At the compression of a housed used master through the reciprocation of a compressing plate 52 arranged within a waste plate box 51 for housing the used master 23a used for printing by means of a stepping motor 56 under the control of a controlling means 74, the action of the compressing plate 52 is controlled in response to environmental conditions so as to house the used master 23a under the optimum compressed state within the waste plate box 51.
