Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a carbon-based current collecting sliding material which has impact resistance meeting increase in vehicle speed and also has electric resistivity free from fault even if collected current becomes increased and further has sliding characteristics capable of contributing to suppression of wear of trolley wire, noise reduction, etc. SOLUTION: Material is prepared in which the sum total of highly electrically conductive metal powder and highly electrically conductive metal fiber of 0.05-0.3 mm diameter and 2-10 mm length is made to 35-70% by weight ratio and the balance is composed of carbon material and the ratio of the metal fiber to the sum total of the metal powder and the metal fiber is made to 5-20% by weight ratio. The above material is mixed and the resultant mixture is compacted, and then the resultant green compact is sintered in a nonoxidizing atmosphere at a high temperature within the range where no elution of metal from the green compact is brought about, thus the carbon-based current collecting sliding material is obtained.
