Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing pigment yellow 12 from which a printing ink having excellent transparency of printing ink can be prepared. SOLUTION: This pigment yellow 12 having a characteristic peak at a diffraction angle 9.90±0.20 deg. (Cu-Kα) in X-ray diffraction pattern is obtained by a production method comprising a process (A) for adding a compound represented by general formula (1) [X is an R1, an OR1, a halogen, a CONR1R2, an SO2NR1 R2, a CONH(CH2)kNR1R2 or an SO2NH(CH2)kNR1R2 (R1 and R2 are each H or a lower alkyl group; k is 1-4); m is an integer of 0-2; Y is COOH or SO3H; n is 1-2] to a pigment water slurry of pigment yellow 12 and a process (B) for heating the surface-treated pigment yellow 12 obtained by the process (A).
