Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing iron carbide by which the necessity of special auxiliary raw materials as well as special equipment can be obviated and excellent quality can be secured and also yield can be improved. SOLUTION: The oxide, hydroxide or carbonate of a low-melting-point metal is added via a path 7, 8, 9 or 10 to an iron-containing raw material supplied via a path 6 into a drying furnace 1. The iron-containing raw material containing the oxide, hydroxide or carbonate of the low-melting-point metal is preheated in a preheating furnace and then allowed to react with reducing and carbonizing gases in fluidized-bed reactors 3 and 4 to manufacture the iron carbide.
