Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a refined liquid lanolin and a refined hard lanolin, having excellent oxidation stability, and reduced smell peculiar to the lanolin, hardly giving the worry of crisis of allergic symptoms, and having high safety and good sense of use by almost completely removing a polar material included in the liquid lanolin and the hard lanolin, and further to provide a cosmetic composition containing them. SOLUTION: This refined liquid lanolin is characterized in that the lanolin comprises a fraction eluted by a nonpolar solvent, obtained by passing the liquid lanolin through a column with a packed absorbent so that the polar material included in the liquid lanolin may be absorbed by the absorbent, and further passing the nonpolar solvent through the column after the absorption to recover the lanolin so that the recovery may be
