Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a damping/reinforcing stud for an existing building which requires no space or equipment for delivery or operation and a work is carried out while a building is used. SOLUTION: A damping/reinforcing stud 1 for an existing building is provided which is installed in an opening part 12 surrounded by a pillar 10 and a beam 11 of the existing building, for damping and reinforcing. A plurality of steel members 2 which can be transported by a few operators are assembled with high-tensile bolts 5. Such commercial steel member as H-type steel 2a and CT-type steel 2b is used as the steel member 2, with a damper 3 provided at an intermediate part between the studs 1.
