MAGNETIC TAPE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thinly made magnetic tape excellent in tracking in a VTR and extremely small in output fluctuation. SOLUTION: The magnetic tape is composed of a flexible base material, a magnetic layer set on its one side and a back coat layer set on the opposite side. The stiffness of above magnetic tape in the cross direction is less than 70 mg.mm2, an average meandering amount of tape edge trajectory described by each of both ends in the cross direction of above magnetic tape observed from the vertical direction to the above magnetic layer side is less than 15 micron in either end and the strength of meandering component of 20 to 200 mm cycle is less that 30% of that of 20 to 10,000 mm cycle.
