ENDOSCOPE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an endoscope in which an effective light adjusting means can be operated independently on the type of an imaging device. SOLUTION: A CCU(camera control unit) 5 is composed of a CCD driver 11 to discriminate if an electronic shutter function exists in a CCD built in a camera head to be connected or not, a front panel 15 to make setting for adjusting dimming by an electronic shutter dimmer means in the CCD driver 11, and a CCU side CPU 13 to make the setting on the front panel 15 effective based on result of discrimination by the CCD driver 11. A light source device 6 is composed of a dimmer circuit 24 to control a diaphragm 23, a front panel 26 to make setting for adjusting dimming by the dimmer circuit 24, and a light source side CPU 25 to make the setting on the front panel 26 effective based on information of the CCD received through a communication wire 14.
