Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical modulation device in which even when the number of wavelength increases, the optical gain of each wavelength does not decrease, the wavelength to be used is not limited by the nonlinear optical effect, the output level can be controlled for each wavelength, and increase in the noise figure or generation of the pattern effect are prevented. SOLUTION: The device has a semiconductor optical amplifier(SOA) 11 and an optical modulator 12. By disposing the optical modulator at the post stage of the semiconductor optical amplifier 12, CW light at single wavelength λ1 is first optically amplified by the semiconductor optical amplifier 11 and then modulated by the optical modulator 12.
