METHOD FOR CONTROLLING CHIRP OF OPTICAL MODULATION ELEMENT
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method capable of applying chirps having respectively different polarity without impressing large DC bias voltage. SOLUTION: The array direction of a 1st grounding electrode 5, a signal electrode 4 and a 2nd grounding electrode 6 having 1st and 2nd parts 6-1 and 6-...

Zusammenfassung: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method capable of applying chirps having respectively different polarity without impressing large DC bias voltage. SOLUTION: The array direction of a 1st grounding electrode 5, a signal electrode 4 and a 2nd grounding electrode 6 having 1st and 2nd parts 6-1 and 6-2 divided in the longitudinal direction of an optical waveguide is set in parallel with the main surface 1A of a substrate 1 and reverse against the crystal axis direction of the substrate 1. The 1st grounding electrode 5, the signal electrode 4 and the 2nd grounding electrode 6 constitute modulating electrodes horizontally symmetrical about a center II between 1st and 2nd branched optical waveguides 2 and 3. |
