Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer in which print artifact is avoided as much as possible. SOLUTION: The printer comprises a print head fixed to a scanning carriage, means for moving the scanning carriage and an image receiving material relatively in the main scanning direction and the sub-scanning direction substantially normal to the main scanning direction, and means for guiding the scanning carriage in the main scanning direction. The printer further comprises means for displacing the scanning carriage automatically with respect to the guide means during movement of the scanning carriage in the main scanning direction.
