IMAGE PROCESSING UNIT AND METHOD, AND RECORDING MEDIUM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing unit that can efficiently utilize a memory and applies a processing with respect to color control to a video signal. SOLUTION: An HDFF(horizontal defocus filter) for the DME(digital multi- effects) interpolates each of color difference signals U, V of a received video signal with a form of 4:2:2 as shown in Figure 3(A) by using in total 4, two each of preceding and succeeding color difference signals U, V as shown in Figures (B), (C) and outputs the interpolated signals together with a corresponding luminance signal Y as shown in Figure (D). That is, the HDFF converts the video signal with a form 4:2:2 into a video signal with a form of 4:4:4.
