IMAGE PROCESSING UNIT AND METHOD, AND RECORDING MEDIUM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing unit that utilizes a 1st recording medium that is characterized in burst transfer so as to convert the scanning direction of a video signal. SOLUTION: A V-scan generator 62 of a scan convert IC 61 generates a signal denoting corresponding vertical scanning timing on the basis of horizontal scanning timing denoted by a REF signal and outputs the signal to an SDRAM controller 63 and an SRAM controller 66. The SDRAM controller 63 switches a 4:4:4:4 video signal received from an HDFF(Horizontal Defocus Filter) 11 in the unit of fields and records the signal to SDRAMs 64-1, 64-2. The SDRAM controller 63 reads the video signals recorded in the SDRAMs 64-1, 64-2 in a prescribed sequence and outputs it to an SRAM 65. An SRAM 65 caches the video signal received from the SDRAM controller 63 under the control of the SRAM controller 66 and provides an output to a VDFF(Vertical Defocus Filter) 16.
