Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device having high luminance and a small number of structural parts. SOLUTION: Dots consisting of a plurality of small projections or small recesses are formed so as to change the propagation direction of the light from the entrance face of a light guide plate by a specified angle to the direction to the light transmitting face. By properly controlling the cross sectional inclination angle of the dots, illumination light with proper angle distribution is made to exit from the light exiting face to illuminate a display device. Thus, the luminance of the liquid crystal display device is improved.
