PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system and a method for filtering information, with which suitable information can be collected while enabling each of users to control the quantity of information to be acquired on a network. SOLUTION: When a user (b) transmits mail to a user (d) (step S1), the mail is recorded through the Internet 14 to a mailbox 52 for user (d) of a server 16. Next, while referring to an attention degree table in a figure 4A, the server 16 judges the presence of a target source user (c), who defines that user (d) as a target destination user, and updates an information propagation degree recorded in the body of mail by calculating a new information propagation degree by multiplying the attention degree of the user (c) to the user (d). When the updated information propagation degree exceeds a prescribed threshold, that mail is delivered to a mailbox 56 of the user (c) (step S2).
