BALLAST BINDING BAG

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a ballast binding bag for use as a railroad track bed while filled with ballast, for enabling reuse of conventional ballast after it is used as a railroad track bed over a long period of time, while also extending the service period of the ballast before replacement, and reducing track maintenance work. SOLUTION: The ballast binding bag is formed in the shape of a rectangular solid consisting of a rectangular bottom piece of fabric 11, a rectangular top piece of fabric 12 disposed above and approximately parallel to the bottom piece of fabric, and side pieces of fabric 13 sewn together to connect the bottom piece of fabric with the top piece of fabric while surrounding the peripheral edges of the bag. The bottom piece, the top piece and the sides piece are of nonwoven fabric. Grip portions 14 are provided near the edge sides of the top piece of fabric. The bags are each packed with ballast and are tightly arranged on a roadbed to form the lower layer of a track bed and ballast is evenly laid thereon to form the upper layer of the track bed. Sleepers and rails tightened to the sleepers are supported on the track bed.
