Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a filter medium which can restrain the reduction of total surface area of a recyclable filter medium caused by proliferation of microorganisms and the wear of the recyclable filter medium due to aeration as much as possible, even when sewage having a comparatively high pollution load such as human excrement is treated. SOLUTION: Space is formed by net bags 3 between filter media 1 so that the space of adjacent filter media 1 is not closed by proliferated microorganisms by superposing and filling filter media 1 containing net bags 3 filled with chitosan charcoal 2 in a treating tank. Besides, the movement of the chitosan charcoal 2 in the net bags 3 is restrained by housing chitosan charcoal 2 in the net bags 3, and thereby, wear due to the friction of chitosan charcoal 2 is restrained as much as possible.
