Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for forming an improved carbon protective coating film without affecting large influence on a antifliction system between a disk and a head in a magnetic disk having the carbon protective coating film and to provide a magnetic disk having the improved carbon protective coating film. SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing the magnetic disk comprises the formation of a first and a second protective carbon layer on the magnetic disk. The first protective carbon layer comprises SP3 dominant carbon. The second protective carbon layer comprises 50% or less SP3 carbon. The second protective carbon layer has very thin thickness, e.g. 0.1-1.0 nm thickness. A lubricating layer (e.g. perfluoropolyether lubricant) is applied onto the second protective carbon layer. The second protective carbon layer promotes improved cooperation between the disk and the lubricant.
