SOLUTION: The heat pump hot water supply apparatus 10 comprises a heat pump unit 11 comprising a compressor 16 and a heat pump heat exchanger 18, a hot water supply unit 12 for heating water in a heat exchanger 27 for hot water supply by the heat of refrigerant from the heat pump unit and storing hot water in a hot water supply tank 26, and a controller 15 for the heat pump unit and hot water supply unit. The hot water supply tank is provided with a large number of temperature sensors 70A-70F in the height direction, the controller sets a temperature sensor located at a position in the hot water supply tank corresponding to a required quantity of hot water as a hot water storage limit sensor, and hot water can be stored up to the position of the hot water storage limit sensor in the hot water supply tank by heating up water in the hot water supply tank by means of the heat exchanger for hot water supply.
