Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical disk unit which calculates the linear velocity on a disk and also can perform optimum servo setting based on the calculated linear velocity. SOLUTION: The unit is provided with a calculating means (63) for calculating the linear velocity at the prescribed position for the optical disk, a selecting means (64) for storing a servo setting parameter table corresponding to the linear velocity and selecting a servo setting parameter corresponding to the calculated linear velocity from the servo setting parameter table and operating means (3 and 4) to be operated based on the selected servo setting parameter.
