Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact hydrogen gas storage unit capable of storing hydrogen in a hydrogen storage material and a hydrogen gas storage cartridge capable of accommodating the hydrogen storage material in the sealed condition. SOLUTION: The hydrogen gas storage unit comprises a first tank 4 furnished with a first electrode 6, a casing 2 having a second tank 5 furnishes with a second electrode 7 and having a DC power supply, and a lid member 3 having a hydrogen cartridge chamber 15 capable of accommodating in sealed condition the hydrogen cartridge accommodating the hydrogen storage material and capable of closing the casing, wherein the lid member is furnished with a first gas passage with one end opening to the hydrogen cartridge chamber and a second gas passage with one end opening to outside in such a way that the first gas passage puts the inside of the first tank in communication with the hydrogen cartridge chamber while the second gas passage puts the inside of the second tank in communication to the outside when the lid member has closed the casing.
