Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new nano-composite material and a method for producing swellable sericite useful for the material. SOLUTION: The swellable sericite is produced by carrying out ion exchange of sericite using 0.1-20 times (weight) as much lithium nitrate melted by heating as the sericite. A polymer composite material comprising (a) 50-99.95 wt.% polymer matrix and (b) 0.05-50 wt.% swellable sericite uniformly dispersed in the polymer matrix is provided.
