SOLUTION: The dye is represented by formula (I) (wherein R1 is a 1-6C alkyl group or a 6-12C aryl group; R2 and R3 are each independently a 1-6C alkyl group, a 6-12C aryl group, a 2-6C alkoxycarbonyl group or a 1-6C aminocarbonyl group; and Ar is a 6-12C aryl group or a 3-10C hetero aromatic group). The thermal transfer dye donating material uses the above dye.
